The Minister of Education launches the Ecosystem Project for the University of Technology and emphasizes enhancing the university's productive environment and enabling graduates to become entrepreneurs.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboodi, launched the Ecosystem Project for the University of Technology and emphasized enhancing the university's productive environment and enabling graduates to become entrepreneurs, program developers, and innovators.

During the launch ceremony of the Ecosystem Project, attended by university presidents, academics, and representatives from the private sector, the Minister of Education stated that this project represents a qualitative human capital asset and an important pillar towards development, enhancing the university's productive environment, and fostering program development and project innovation.

He added that the Ministry of Higher Education's law, which stipulated quantitative and qualitative changes in scientific, technological, and cultural movement and keeping pace with the indicators of modernization in knowledge fields, has made educational institutions continuously interact with the needs of society and development requirements.

The Minister of Education further elaborated that the Ecosystem Project at the University of Technology comes within the context of empowering young graduates to embark on ambitious endeavors and achieve real work steps through productive partnerships with private sector institutions that attract entrepreneurs and project ideators.

In this regard, the Ministry's Deputy Minister for Scientific Research Affairs, Haider Abdul Dahd, outlined the stages of establishing the Ecosystem system and its mechanisms in accordance with the aspirations and strategies of the Ministry aimed at achieving the project of productive, supportive universities that meet the needs of the labor market.

Furthermore, the President of the University of Technology emphasized that the university is committed to finding solutions to graduates' employment and enabling them through partnerships that serve entrepreneurship areas, while systems experts and project management provided an overview of the importance of the Ecosystem system in strengthening cooperation with the private sector, attracting graduates, and implementing projects.

The University of Technology organized the celebration of the Global Entrepreneurship Week at the Computer Engineering Department.

The university's president, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghuban, and the head of the Computer Engineering Department, Dr. Hassan Jalil, delivered speeches highlighting that entrepreneurship contributes to achieving sustainable development, skill development, promoting entrepreneurship culture, developing students' project ideas, and bridging communication gaps between stakeholders.

The celebration included various themes, including panel discussions on ecosystem, sustainable human and economic development, technological revolution, workforce market trends, renewable energy strategy in Iraq, environmental risks and solutions, as well as an exhibition on qualification, employment, entrepreneurship, and patents.

The Technology Incubators and Ecosystem Division - University of Technology participated in the Iraqi National Trade Forum, which was established by the World Trade Organization in cooperation with the European Union and the Iraqi Ministry of Trade, in addition to state ministries and international community organizations. The forum was held at the Babylon Hotel for the period from February 19-20, 2024. The forum addressed several issues, including entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized emerging projects, especially in the field of agriculture and industry. The forum also addressed supporting women and encouraging their involvement in the labor market, in addition to supporting nutrition projects.

Several dialogue sessions were held that included parliamentary figures and ministers, including Representative Kazem Al-Shammari, member of the Investment Committee, Mr. Ahmed Al-Asadi, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, general ministers in the Ministry of Trade and Agriculture, the representative of the European Union, Mrs. Barbara, Eric Buchot, head of the World Trade Organization program, and program officials. At the United Nations, our participation resulted in getting to know some international and local companies, as well as getting to know Mr. Alessandro, the representative of FAO in Iraq. Some ideas related to water and its rationalization were presented to him, and he declared his welcome to the idea and worked to implement and assist in it to support the rationalization of water consumption in agriculture and We will take advantage of the opportunity to cooperate with them in developing and adopting some environmental projects in the future. The meeting also resulted in getting to know a group of Iranian companies to support the manufacture of some laboratory equipment, which will be among the projects that the incubator aspires to adopt in the near future.

This opportunity also resulted in getting to know all the officials of the incubator division in Iraqi universities and some of the unit officials, Mr. the official of the Technology Incubator Division and the Ecosystem in the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, who took the initiative to provide a helping hand in providing an online qualification course to introduce the technological incubator division at the university to all university employees. And all those interested in its work. During the forum, 300 small and medium companies attended, and these companies conducted B2B sessions exceeding 240 sessions, during which partnerships and investments worth up to 5.8 M'$ USD were made, and the Labor Organization was encouraged to develop projects that can be implemented in all governorates.
